ACCOMMODATION

Apartment Hunting @ Mont Kiara

I have been doing a little bit of apartment hunting recently with my husband ('H').

Our current apartment at 1,800 sqft is no longer big enough for the four of us (urm five if you include our maid/servant/nanny or a nicer word assistant).

H and I have decided to view Hijauan Kiara and MK28.

These are my views anyway and it's not for promotional purposes or to sway anyone whether to purchase or not as everyone's preferance or taste (pricing) is different anyway.

Stop 1 @ Hijauan Kiara

The overview of the compound is nice and cosy. H and I have been here several times as we have a friend who lives here too (but sometimes it's not that great staying too close to a friend? No? - We are not that close (relationship wise I mean) by the way).

The Unit that we viewed is on the 8th Floor (good height - I'm acrophobia you see). Size wise was good at 2,700 sqft. Private lift and area. However the Unit was at the darker end and the finishing looks old (not modern). I was suprised at that as the Apartment is around five years old only. The finishing and even furnishing look dated (like the kind that my father would like). Ha ha, sorry Dad but its just your taste I suppose and it reminds me of you.

The plus point is that the area is a lot bigger than our current unit and it comes with a wet kitchen (plus point for people who does lots of Chinese style cooking a.k.a Me). A lot of work need to be done if we want to take up the Unit and the price is not too expensive too. Ok ... it's wrong to say the price is not expensive. Of course it's expensive but it's really a toss between location and location. That says it. Another point is that the facilities and pool area are really nice for the kids.

Stop 2 @ MK 28

The week after our first visit H and I decided to check out MK 28.

Ok the first thing that I realise when I went in was the foyer area is HUGE. Seriously, do you need such a huge reception area (think I can skate around this area and try to loose a few inches off my stomach). Anyway there is like six level of underground parking here unlike Hijauan which has a good 2 levels only and your parking area is really close to the lift and directly below your Unit. I made H parked at the Foyer Visitor's Parking area after he went all the way down to Level B6!!! (H said he could not see the Visitor's Parking at the Foyer - yeah he was distraced by the Foyer's Size too).

The Unit that H and I checked out was 2,520 sqft  in size and it was on the 1st floor. The thing that I like is that it's BRIGHT. I think it's really important though I don't like to go under the sun but I want the feel of shine (you know what I mean). H and I thought that it would be noisy since it's on the first floor but we were mistaken of course. The view from the balcony is an empty piece of land (urrm I suppose in a few years time they will build another high rise in front of the Unit and will we lose the shine?). All in all, the Unit was modern, comes with sleekly designed finishing and touches. I really like the wet kitchen. It's huge and I fell in love with it. Plus point is that the surrounding area and facilities are so much more impressive than Hijauan. You gotta see it to feel it :)

Again, this place is not cheap. H and I may be scounting for a few more apartments before we decide whether we will sell our current unit. Besides plonking a hefty sum of deposit to secure a place at the rate and prices that we have seen recently is crazy. Maybe there is a unit out there for me???
